Italo Rondinella (Italy 1974) is a documentary photographer and filmmaker currently based in Istanbul. He graduated in law. After spending almost a decade working as a lawyer he decided to focus entirely on documentary photography, his originary passion.

His personal work focused especially on social themes related to political and systemic changes provoked by the economic depression in the weakest EU countries. He has worked in Italy, Spain and Greece. Then he began to take an interest in the Middle East. He travelled to Iraq and then to Turkey.

His photographs have been published in the world’s leading international media, such as: El País (Spain), La Repubblica (Italy), Internazionale (Italy), Corriere della Sera (Italy), Le Monde (France), Le Monde diplomatique (France), BBC (UK), Gatopardo (Mexico), Esquire (Mexico), El Universal (Mexico), Los Angeles Times (USA), Wall Street Journal (USA), Al Jazeera (Qatar).

– Since October 2016 he is a contributor, as a video producer & video editor, of RSI (Radiotelevisione svizzera).

– In 2015 he started to collaborate, as a video producer & video editor, with RAI ISTANBUL, the Office of Rai (Radiotelevisione Italiana S.p.A.) in Turkey & South Eastern Europe.

– He was official photographer of the Venice Biennale Foundation, for the International Art Exhibition, in 2011 and 2013, and for the International Architecture Exhibition, in 2014 and 2016.

– His clients have been the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) and OMA BEIJING among others.

– In January 2014 he joined the American agency Polaris Images.

– In 2009 he travelled to Barcelona to specialize in photojournalism at the UAB. From then on, he collaborated with el Periódico de Catalunya and with the reporting department of the Cordon Press/Corbis photographic agency.

– In 2007 Italo started his carrer as a daily news photographer for Corriere della Sera.
