Superbarrio Gómez is a Mexican media figure, created in 1987 by activist Marco Rascón Córdova. He is known for wearing red tights and a red-and-yellow wrestling mask, embodying the persona of a luchador (Mexican wrestler). However, rather than fighting crime and corruption with physical force, Superbarrio champions social causes, particularly affordable housing, in response to the devastating 1985 Mexico City earthquake that left thousands homeless. He uses his iconic image to organize rallies, lead union protests, and prevent the eviction of rent-paying families.
